our good fortune with those who have a taste for the finer things
in life - we at Mount Melsetter / Great Karoo Safaris are currently
marketing our very own brand of biltong and dry wors. Much
work has gone into this, the recipe, the meat and the packaging
- and we are so confident in the end-product that we unreservedly
offer a "money back if not satisfied" guarantee with our
product. |

We also provide a "ready for the pot/fire/oven" range of pre-packed, marinated, cuts of karoo lamb or venison. These delectable treats are subject to advance ordering as the effort that goes into it, plus the logistics behind working with fresh meat - requires that we plan carefully.
Because of seasonality, sales of meat products are very much on a "first come, first served" basis. We regret the disappointment to those who must therefore wait their turn and trust they will appreciate the difficulties of working with perishable stock.
Also on offer are hand-made walking sticks. Crawford Sticks are
finely crafted Sticks, made from carefully selected indigenous woods
growing on Mt. Melsetter, a farm in the Schoombee Karoo, in the
Eastern Cape Midlands of South Africa. The raw sticks are steam
straightened, before being finished by hand, and fitted with either
of the Mels’ter Walker, or Mels’ter Stalker Deer Antler
Handle. The Walker is a conventional walking stick, while the Stalker
is a traditional Highland Thumbstick. They’re made to measure,
as there is a definite method used to determine the correct fit
for each and every person. Periodically lightly waxed to prevent
dryness and brittleness, a Crawford Stick gives many years of walking
pleasure. |

Art works, paintings in water colours and oil are also available to the discerning buyer who would like a visual reminder of their Melsetter experience. The subject is primarily the Karoo in all it's moods and with all it's facets revealed. Truly a memento to treasure.
A long-lasting gift for someone unfortunate enough to have missed a visit to the Karoo house and hunt, is a recipe book compiled by the cooks of the region. Featuring recipes both local and national, it is a valuable aid in the kitchen as well as a picture-rich source of inspiration.
