Melsetter’s Karoo House, in the Heartland of the Karoo,
is a delightful and unique B&B venue. Graded a Three Star
Bed & Breakfast by the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa,
Mount Melsetter’s Karoo House is situated on the tarred
R56, forty five kilometres east of Middelburg. It provides a central
stop-over for travellers between Gauteng and the Southern Cape
Coast, and between Kwa Zulu Natal and the Western Cape. |

Mike
and Candy Ferrar are relaxed and gracious hosts, opening their
spacious, elegant country home to travelers from far and wide.
Bedrooms are large and comfortable, some with en suite bathrooms,
some with private bathrooms, and all in the main house. A cool
pool welcomes you after hot summer travel, while a glowing fire
warms the lounge, bar and dining areas on cold Karoo nights. If
you’re early enough, a game drive and sundowners up on the
nek make for an ideal wind-down after the stresses of fast car-travel.
DSTV in the TV lounge keeps you in contact with world events.

Meals are served at times tailored to suit guests’ arrival and departure times, and in the summer months are served in the beautiful Karoo House garden. A Bed & Breakfast Tariff is available, as is a Dinner Bed & Breakfast Tariff. As Mike and Candy are quick to point out, however, “there isn’t a Nando’s around the corner !” Candy masterminds an excellent table, specializing in Game, Karoo Lamb, local Beef, and home grown fruit and vegetables. |
